MEET MELISSA

Leadership with more presence. More courage. More of you.

I’m Melissa Thomson, a leadership and high performance coach, speaker and facilitator with more than two decades of experience across leadership, wellbeing and human development.

My work is grounded in a simple idea: the way we lead ourselves shapes the way we lead others.

When leaders become more present, connected to themselves and courageous enough to act on what they know, more of who they are becomes available.

More capacity to think clearly. Make decisions. Have courageous conversations. Create. Connect. Influence. Lead.

For the individual, this can mean greater self-trust, stronger boundaries, clearer decisions and less energy lost to overthinking, proving and second-guessing.

For organisations, it can mean stronger relationships, more honest communication, greater trust and accountability, better decisions and cultures where people have more capacity to contribute and thrive.

I Know Leadership From the Inside

My understanding of leadership comes from living it.

For more than a decade, I founded and led an independent Steiner school, building an organisation and its culture from the ground up and navigating growth, governance, people, conflict, risk, community and the difficult decisions that come with responsibility.

Alongside this, I’ve spent more than two decades working in wellbeing and human development through coaching, counselling, facilitation, communication, movement, meditation and self-inquiry.

One taught me to understand the human being.

The other taught me what happens when that human being has to lead.

My work brings the two together.

Presence. Connection. Courage.

These are the three capacities at the heart of my work.

Presence helps us see what is actually happening rather than react from habit.

Connection helps us stay in relationship with ourselves and others, and listen to what we know.

Courage turns that awareness into action: the conversation, decision, boundary, challenge or next step that leadership requires.

Together, they cultivate inner authority: the ability to trust yourself, integrate intuition with evidence and experience, remain open to the wisdom of others, and still have the courage to act.

Joyful Excellence

I believe our greatest contribution becomes possible when wellbeing and joy are part of the foundation from which we lead and perform.

This is Joyful Excellence.

Not joy instead of ambition. Not wellbeing instead of results.

It’s the recognition that when we are well, connected and fully alive, more of ourselves becomes available for the things that matter: our thinking, creativity, relationships, leadership and impact.

When we thrive, more of us becomes available to excel.

And when leaders thrive, that doesn't stop with them. It influences the people they lead, the cultures they shape and the conditions they create for others to thrive too.

The Work

Today, I bring this philosophy to life through ELEVATE, my leadership development work for women, and through speaking and facilitation with organisations and communities.

Whether I’m working with one leader or a room full of people, the inquiry is much the same:

What becomes possible when more of you is available to lead?
